2019 World Rabies Day - Vaccinate to Eliminate
September 3, 2019
The Canadian Veterinary Medical Association (CVMA) joins countries from around the world to promote rabies awareness and prevention.
The 2019 World Rabies Day theme is Rabies: Vaccinate to Eliminate. The theme can be used to raise awareness at many levels, including:
- Ensuring dogs are kept vaccinated – as a reminder to dog owners, animal health professionals, and local governments
- Helping people in need seek and obtain PEP (post-exposure prophylaxis) – through human health professionals and educators
- Committing to the 2030 goal of eliminating rabies deaths – with national governments putting resources into rabies elimination
Visit the Global Alliance for Rabies Control (GARC) website to find information on how to organize a World Rabies Day event. You will find event toolkits, awareness resources, and free downloadable logos in multiple languages. Use #WorldRabiesDay to promote your event.
GARC also offers free online courses to improve the skills and knowledge of people working in rabies awareness and prevention.
