2020 SCVMA Symposium

The 2020 SCVMA Symposium will be hosted by the Western College of Veterinary Medicine and will be on the progressive future of veterinary medicine: wellness, welfare, and wellbeing

We are thrilled to invite you to the Western College of Veterinary Medicine (WCVM) in Saskatoon, SK, for the 33rd annual Students of the CVMA (SCVMA) Symposium! The WCVM proudly represents Western Canada as the only veterinary college accepting students from BC, SK, AB, and YT and is known for its impressive teaching hospital, including a wealth of board-certified veterinary medicine specialists who will be instructing you in the 2020 SCVMA Symposium lectures and labs!

This annual conference is designed exclusively by students, for Canadian student veterinarians! The SCVMA Symposium features exhilarating speakers, lectures, wet labs, and great social and networking events. Don’t miss out on the 2020 SCVMA Symposium hosted by WCVM on January 17 and 18, 2020, in Saskatoon.


Cost: Two days (Fri. and Sat.) - $150.00 + SK Tax (5% GST, 6% PST)

Opens:  Thursday, November 21, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. (E.T.)

Closes: Thursday, November 28, 2019 at 5:00 p.m. (E.T.)


BEFORE registration opens, you NEED your CVMA website username (your email) AND password

to login to the Symposium registration system.

If you do not know or forgot your password, you can request it from the CVMA website’s automated "Forgot Password" link in the "Login" section of CVMA's member website. You also need a valid credit card to pay your registration.


Preview the 2020 SCVMA Symposium Program, including lectures, wet labs, social activities and tours before registration opens. This information is now available online.

Make a list of top choices, and also note alternative options in case your first choice is full, as participation is limited. Review the Symposium cancellation/refund policy to ensure you understand the conditions.

Wet Labs, Lectures, and Tours

Friday, January 17:

Wet Labs: You may register for a maximum of TWO wet labs, one in each time block

Lectures: You may choose one lecture in each time block, a maximum of THREE

Saturday, January 18:

Tours: You may choose one tour ***Please note that selecting a tour is not mandatory, however, the price remains the same either way

The registration system WILL NOT alert you of conflicting selections. You are responsible for ensuring you do not book two events at the same time. Should this occur, one of those events will be deleted from your registration and any remaining options will be offered based on availability, after online registration closes.

If you encounter a problem after registration opens, you may email the CVMA at Requests for changes due to conflicting selections must be submitted by email and will only be considered after registration is closed.

Billet Information

Students requiring billet accommodations who selected "yes" in their registration profile must complete a separate billet information form. To complete the billet form after registration, login to the CVMA Symposium website section and click on "Billet Information." This form must be submitted BEFORE November 29, 2019 to process requests and find suitable hosts.
