Celebrating RVT Month and the Importance of the Veterinary Team in Animal Health and Welfare

October 10, 2017

The Canadian Veterinary Medical Association (CVMA) is proud to celebrate RVT Month with the Registered Veterinary Technologists and Technicians of Canada (RVTTC) during the month of October.

In previous years, the event occurred over a week, but this year one week wasn’t enough to emphasize the value and importance registered veterinary technicians and technologists have within veterinary healthcare.

"Veterinarians rely on the invaluable support of registered veterinary technicians/technologists who provide high quality service to our clients and superior medical care to our patients,” says Dr. Troye McPherson, 2017-18 CVMA President. “This year, we have an entire month to thank them for the support they give year long."

CVMA and RVTTC signed a collaboration agreement in 2014 to strengthen the ties between veterinarians and registered veterinary technicians/technologists (RVTs). Both associations believe working together will benefit veterinary healthcare teams and animal patients across Canada.

"RVTs are vital members of the veterinary healthcare team. We are pleased to continue to partner with CVMA on future initiatives, to enhance communication, advocacy and continuing education opportunities between professions," says RVTTC President, Heather Quilty, RVT.
