CFIA: What We Heard in the Health of Animals Regulations (Humane Transportation) Consultations

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) completed a public consultation on proposed amendments to the Health of Animals Regulations, Part XII –Transportation of Animals on February 03, 2017. An analysis of the feedback has been completed and a summary report of the consultation is now available.
The 75-day consultation received more than 50,000 comments from 11,000 respondents. All comments on the proposed amendments were reviewed and included for consideration by the CFIA. These comments will be used to inform the development of the final regulatory amendments, which are expected to be published in Canada Gazette, Part II. The next steps of the regulatory amendment process are outlined in the Notice of intent.
