Graduating Class of 2018: Stay Connected!

Congratulations to the Class of 2018 for earning your DVM! As you take your career to the next level, it is important to broaden your skills, get to know your profession’s leaders, stay connected with your peers, and stay current with issues affecting the Canadian and international veterinary profession.

This is likely a busy time for you, but the CVMA wants to help. By updating your contact information and email address in the CVMA’s national veterinary database, we can ensure you have access to the information and resources needed to help you excel in your new career!

Also, recent graduates receive membership dues reductions. What does this mean? It means that CVMA membership is free for the Class of 2018 for the balance of your graduation year (April to Dec). It also means that members who maintain uninterrupted membership after graduation throughout a consecutive three-year period are eligible for a tiered annual membership dues (AMD) reduction as follows:

Year of graduation:

Complimentary half-year membership (July-December)

Year 1 after graduation:               

75% off the regular annual dues plus a free CVMA Convention  C.E. voucher ***

Year 2 after graduation:               

50% reduction of the regular annual dues

Year 3 after graduation:               

25% reduction of the regular annual dues

*** The CVMA supports early-career DVMs with continuing education, don’t miss your chance for a free general registration to the CVMA annual convention (value $745)

To continue enjoying your CVMA membership benefits and to guarantee you receive your CVMA membership certificate, the 2018/19 CVMA Source Guide and Directory and future issues of The Canadian Veterinary Journal, it is necessary for you to update the contact information in your profile:

It’s easy to review and update your profile in the CVMA’s national veterinary database. Here’s how:

  1. Go to the CVMA website.
  2. At the very top of the homepage, click My Portal.
  3. Input your credentials and click login. **If you can’t locate your login credentials or experience problems connecting, contact the CVMA office.
  4. In the portal, click My Account > My Profile where you can update your residential and business contact information.
  5. Remember to click the Update my profile button at the bottom to save your changes.
