CVMA Seeking Local Chair for its 2020 Convention in Quebec City

The Canadian Veterinary Medical Association (CVMA) is seeking a volunteer, who lives in the hosting province and near Quebec City, to sit on the CVMA Professional Development Committee (PDC) from January 2019 to December 2020 to assist with local arrangements of the 2020 annual convention to be held in Quebec City, June 18-21.

This individual should be dedicated to this role, have good communication and interpersonal skills, and be a person of integrity in the veterinary community. The 2020 Local Chair will assist the Professional Development Committee (PDC) and the CVMA Manager, Conventions by:  

  • Suggesting potential speakers for the CE sessions    
    Projected timeline: January – March 2019
  • Suggesting options for the CVMA social evening
    Projected timeline: July – September 2019
  • Assisting with identifying potential session chairs for the scientific sessions
    Projected timeline: February – May 2020
  • Assisting the Manager, Conventions with the recruitment of volunteers
    Projected timeline: February – May 2020
  • Assisting the Manager, Conventions with securing cadavers and supplies for wet labs and with disposal of wet lab materials
    Projected timeline: March – May 2020

In addition to the areas listed above, the Local Chair will participate in quarterly teleconferences and one in-person meeting with the PDC.

Proficieny in both languages is an asset.
