CVMA Welcomes Dr. Erin MacDonald to Council

December 17, 2018

The Canadian Veterinary Medical Association (CVMA) is pleased to welcome Dr. Erin MacDonald as the Prince Edward Island Representative on Council. Dr. MacDonald, whose term will commence on January 1, 2019 and end on December 31, 2021, replaces Dr. Kathleen MacMillan who was appointed to the role on an interim basis. The CVMA thanks Dr. MacMillan for her time and expertise in this role.

Dr. MacDonald grew up on beautiful Prince Edward Island. After earning a Bachelor of Science from Mount Allison University in New Brunswick, she graduated from the Atlantic Veterinary College, PEI, in 2007. Following graduation, she moved to Ottawa, Ont. to practice at a small animal clinic. Within a year, the Island was calling her back home and she was lucky enough to obtain a position at the Summerside Animal Hospital where she has been practicing small animal medicine for the last 10 years. In 2012, Dr. MacDonald was elected to serve on the PEIVMA Council and in November of 2014 she became the President of the Association. After serving for four years she is excited to represent CVMA members in her province on the CVMA Council.

Dr. MacDonald is an avid reader and loves to take in continuing education wherever she can find it. In her time away from veterinary medicine she enjoys travel, gardening, working for Studio 30 Fitness company, and baking.
