Meet the Shining Stars of the 2018 Emerging Leaders Program

November 29, 2018

The stars were shining bright at the 2018 CVMA Emerging Leaders Program (ELP), sponsored by Virox Animal Health, which successfully engaged with 29 participants during the Canadian Veterinary Medical Association (CVMA) annual convention in July in Vancouver, B.C.

Meet the 2018 ELP Shining Stars here!

Facilitator Dr. Rick DeBowes’ interactive, captivating style of teaching, once again, allowed participants to walk away equipped with tools to cope with day-to-day challenges encountered in veterinary practice.

The sessions were fantastic! Working with many individuals with different characters in a highly emotional job like ours poses many challenges. It was an eye-opener and also a confirmation of how working and collaborating together as a team works much better than working solo within a team. The key is good communication from each stakeholder. I walked away feeling empowered and more open to possibilities.” – Dr. Evy van Nobelen, Okanagan Veterinary Hospital, Kelowna, BC, ELP 2018

At the end of the two half-day sessions, all participants were presented with graduation certificates during the luncheon with Virox Animal Health representatives in attendance.

Participants were delighted with the perspective and skills taught throughout the program, as illustrated in the following testimonial:

"I had an amazing time in Vancouver at the CVMA convention and mostly at the ELP component. Dr. DeBowes’ sessions were full of inspiration and motivation. He presented new ways of looking at old problems. He provided new and unique ways of looking at day-to-day issues as well as ‘big ticket’ life issues. I came away inspired and motivated to invoke positive change in my life and workplace.” – Dr. Devin Norbert, Fish Creek 24hr Pet Hospital, Calgary, AB, ELP 2018
