NEWS RELEASE: Veterinary Agri-Health Services Ltd. receives National Award for Veterinary Care in Western Canada

July 22, 2015

Veterinary Agri-Health Services Ltd. has been recognized as Practice of the Year by the Canadian Veterinary Medical Association (CVMA) for providing high quality professional services to feedlot and cow/calf operations across western Canada.

“The CVMA is pleased to honour Veterinary Agri-Health Services Ltd. with the Practice of the Year Award for their level of professionalism and personalized attention to their patients,” says Dr. Jean Gauvin, 2014-15 CVMA President.

Veterinary Agri-Health Services Ltd. is a health management oriented beef cattle veterinary practice based in Alberta. Its primary goal is to work collaboratively with its clients and other industry professionals to maximize the health and productivity of individual herds, with a cost effective program consistent with the goals and objectives of each producer. Once a one-man practice, founded in 1993 by Dr. Michael Jelinski, it has expanded into a team of five veterinarians, a University of Calgary faculty member, along with three support staff and a registered veterinary technician.

“Veterinary Agri-Health Services is a major veterinary presence in the south central Alberta cattle community,” says Jennifer Enzie, fourth year University of Calgary veterinary student, and former summer student at Veterinary Agri-Health Services Ltd. “They continually evolve as the cattle industry evolves, and strive to keep their clients and colleagues up-to-date with current trends in the cattle industry and veterinary medicine.

“I was completely and utterly moved by this practice and its entire staff,” adds Enzie.

In addition to delivering herd health programs to feedlot and cow-calf operations across Western Canada, the practice is active in research projects with a number of academic, government and pharmaceutical industry partners, contributing to the ever expanding pool of veterinary knowledge.

CVMA’s Practice of the Year Award, sponsored by Scotiabank, recognizes a veterinary practice team for outstanding achievement within their local community. Such achievements may include innovations in provision of veterinary services, commitment to work-life balance, meaningful community or charitable involvement, or implementation of 'green' practice procedures.
