What Veterinarians Should Know About the Impact of a Declaw Ban on Animal Shelters

December 8, 2021

Register below to join us on Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2021 at 5 p.m. PST (8 p.m. EST) for a free one-hour continuing education webinar about the impact of a provincial ban on elective feline onychectomy (declawing) in British Columbia.

The session will briefly review current literature on onychectomy, discuss the current shift in onychectomy practice (in veterinary practices and in legislation/ veterinary regulations in North America), and share the impact of a provincial ban on shelter metrics from a large network of shelters including intake, outcomes, and euthanasia.

We will end with discussion of the roles of veterinary and shelter professionals in shaping the dialogue around the practice of onychectomy. The content is based on a recently published study in the Journal of Feline Medicine and Surgery.

This event is for veterinarians and registered veterinary technicians and has been approved for one RACE-approved CE credit.
