The CVMA-SBCV Chapter is pleased to inform you that we have found a new venue for the 2019 Fall Conference and Trade Show. We were informed last week by the Pinnacle Harbourfront that they were experiencing a labour disruption and would be unable to accommodate our Conference.
What BC Veterinarians Need to Know About Rabies
With the recent human rabies case on Vancouver Island, the number of rabies inquiries and potential exposures reported has dramatically increased across the province. Rabies is a reportable animal disease to the Chief Veterinary Officer (CVO) in BC under the Reportable and Notifiable Disease Regulation, pursuant to the BC Animal Health Act . BC veterinarians fulfill their reporting requirements by submitting samples from a suspect animal to the CFIA laboratory for rabies testing.
Update to the PST Ruling
The Chapter has received the following from Rulings and Interpretations Team of the Ministry of Finance
“Upon further review, there is an error in the original ruling sent on February 22, 2019. In the third paragraph on page 2, the legislative reference should read, “When a veterinarian injects a drug into an animal, the veterinarian is providing an exempt related service under paragraph 73(1)(d) of the PSTEER.”
