Hi Everyone,

It appears that organizers of pet trade shows need support. I am planning to present to the public so contacted the organizer of this pet show. She said audiences of presentations are low but to the booths it is very good - lots of traffic. In our industry I really believe we need to have contact with the public so they can ask us questions and we can be a real person to them.

If you know anyone in the pet industry who might be interested in renting a booth (it is cheaper for associations) please let them know that the Pet Lovers Show in Abbotsford is needing them :)) Without industry support these shows will not be sustainable. I applaud the organizers' initiative to put on this event. If you know others in the industry who might be interested in supporting this event or others like it please put them in contact with this show's organizer. If we support our profession and our industry it will be there for people in the future...just do it :))

Clicking on your link Josephine one can see a huge number of exhibitors. This would seem to be a good place for the CVMA-SBCV to have it's own booth. I suspect we could could sign up area vets to occupy on shifts. Ken

Hi Ken,

Good idea. I am organizing a booth for the newly formed group VSABC so am booked .... but ... if someone takes on the organization role for the CVMA-SBVC I would volunteer in some capacity. Vets can also apply to make presentations and that is ALL GOOD! The booths are not that expensive. We all have an obligation to promote our profession to the public as many others are promoting their interests to the public also. Our competition is not other vets. We need to help reach out and educate the public about what we do and what we can do for the animal kingdom.

Seize the moment and the opportunity everyone.

Ken - It seems only you and I might think this is a good idea. My group are motivated to work on this booth. We have a booth which we are manning throughout the show and 9 presentations by committed specialists for the show - hopefully we will be able to present to a large audience. Anything our profession can present to the public will benefit all of us.

As a profession we must support each other and the profession. Without our profession we are nothing. Think on that. People - it is not an individual sport here - we are a team everyone. We can navel gaze and think of our own glory or we can see the big picture - your choice.

Jo.
