Media Advisory: Halifax to Host National, Multi-Species Veterinary Convention

HALIFAX, N.S. – The Canadian Veterinary Medical Association’s (CVMA) annual Convention takes place in Halifax from July 21 to 24, 2022 and offers Canadian veterinary professionals continuing education sessions focusing on companion animal, ruminant, and equine health, practice management, animal welfare, small flock poultry, veterinary forensics, and more delivered by over 50 esteemed national and international speakers.

The opening day (Thursday, July 21) of CVMA Signature Events includes:

  • CVMA SummitTime for a Veterinary Workforce Paradigm Shift, will explore veterinary workforce issues in a new light focusing on veterinary retention and recruitment, workforce mobilization/utilization, and novel alternative veterinarian extender concepts in the veterinary workforce (8 a.m. to 12 p.m.)
  • Announcement of the new CVMA President (approx. 12:50 p.m.)
  • CVMA National Issues ForumVeterinary Medicine and Natural Disasters, will explore the role of the veterinary team in dealing with the impact of natural disasters such as fires and flooding on animal health and welfare (2 to 4:30 p.m.)
  • CVMA Awards Gala celebrates outstanding individuals and groups for their exceptional contributions to veterinary medicine (7 to 8 p.m.)

Of note is the CVMA Veterinary Job Fair, taking place on Saturday, July 23 from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. in the Ballroom Level of the Halifax Convention Centre.
