The CVMA looks forward to continuing to work closely with federal departments and agencies under the Pan Canadian Action Plan for AMR to build on accomplishments under the 2019-2023 CVMA Stewardship of Antimicrobials by Veterinarians Initiative (SAVI) to support prudent use of antimicrobials in animals.
The report refers to the lack of availability of drugs, which affects human and animal medicine. We have asked the federal government to invest in ways to maintain and strengthen the availability of critical veterinary drugs in the interest of protecting public health and safety, animal health and welfare, and food safety and security as per our recent 2024 Federal Budget submission.
