Council on Education Site Visitor Application

April 13, 2026

If you are looking for a unique opportunity to “give back” to veterinary medicine while expanding your horizons and learning about something new, the Council on Education® (COE) may have your answer.

What is the Council on Education?

"The AVMA Council on Education® (AVMA COE®) accredits DVM or equivalent educational programs. The AVMA COE® assures that minimum standards in veterinary medical education are met by all AVMA-accredited colleges of veterinary medicine, and that students enrolled in those colleges receive an education which will prepare them for entry-level positions in the profession.

The AVMA COE® is recognized by the United States Department of Education for the accreditation and pre-accreditation ("Provisional Accreditation") of programs leading to professional degrees (DVM or VMD) in veterinary medicine, including those offered via distance education."
