ICECDogs Position Paper on Noisy Breathing in Brachycephalic (flat-faced or snub nosed) Dogs

July 29, 2025

The International Collective on Extreme Conformations in Dogs (ICECDogs) has recently released a position paper on brachycephalic (flat-faced or snub nosed) dogs with “noisy breathing”.  Due to increasing concerns over the health of these dogs, many of the ICECDogs member organizations have been providing information to the public and working with their stakeholders and respective regulators to address concerns related to the breeding, selling, and/or showing of animals that suffer due to intentionally selected anatomical features that result in unnecessary distress and/or shortened lifespans of these dogs.
