Ukrainian Veterinarians Need Your Help During This Challenging Time
January 11, 2024
The Ukrainian Veterinary Medical Foundation (UVMF) is the charitable arm of the Ukrainian Small Animals Veterinary Association (USAVA). Given the extraordinary events happening in Ukraine, there is a broad network of Ukrainian veterinarians, as well as animal welfare organizations (zoos, shelters, etc.) who require support.
The UVMF has outlined three main projects for 2024 to meet its mission and values:
- The BASED program, where each letter represents a direction of their work:
B - help for veterinary business
A - help for animals
S - help for shelters
E - help for education
D - help for veterinarians and their families affected by war devastation and atrocities
- Ukrainian Charity Veterinary Clinics
The main goal is to provide free or minimum fee services to treat animals in Ukraine, help veterinarians secure job placements, and provide students who lack practical skills with real-world experience. - Ukrainian School of Veterinary Medicine
The aim is to enhance the expertise and post-graduate professional development of Ukrainian veterinarians, particularly providing mental health support during the war.
