Welcome back to all returning students, and heartfelt congratulations to those just beginning their veterinary school journey!
I encourage you to get involved and make the most of every opportunity—these years will fly by faster than you think. Embrace the experience, support one another, and enjoy every step of the way.
The SCVMA (Student of the Canadian Veterinary Medical Association) is made up of representatives from the five Canadian veterinary colleges, with the mission of uniting veterinary students across the country and providing them with a voice within the CVMA and the profession at large.
Our current SCVMA team includes: Shelby Jennings (UCVM), Sara Puligandla (FMV), Katelyn Visser (AVC) and myself (WCVM).
Due to unforeseen circumstances, OVC does not currently have a representative. If you’re a student at OVC and are passionate about advocacy and building national connections, I strongly encourage you to reach out—we’d love to have you on board! Being part of SCVMA is an incredible opportunity to grow both personally and professionally.
This year, our team is excited to present One Voice and Hot Topic sessions focused on a pressing issue in our profession: access to care in veterinary medicine. We look forward to facilitating meaningful conversations and hearing perspectives from students across the country.
I’m so excited for what this year has in store for all of us—from important discussions and national collaboration to strengthening the incredible community we have as Canadian veterinary students. Wishing you all a fulfilling and inspiring year ahead!
Warm regards,
Kasey Keohane
